Research Initiative: China

Flag of ChinaThe Center is involved in a wide variety of activiites with a number of law schools in China. These include, research, guest lectures, translations, moot court, meetings, symposia, and conferences. A common feature of these activities is exchange of scholarship and information to advance the field of space law.

» Selected Resources: Journal of Space Law

Unoffical translations are provided to the Journal of Space Law readers as the product of a special cooperative activity between the National Center for Remote Sensing, Air, and Space Law and the Faculty of Interational Law of the China University of Political Science and Law. The Journal of Space Law would like to acknowledge the special contribution made by Prof. Yan Ling in organizing the translation work.

» US-China Legal Cooperation Fund

The Center was awarded a grant to teach U.S. space law at the Beijing Institute of Technology and Harbin Institute of Technology in 2009. The Fund was established by members of the US-China Business Council (USCBC) after the presidents of the United States and the People's Republic of China in October 1997 and June 1998, made a commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of law.

» Serving the Space Security Client

Dr. Dean ChengChina expert Dr. Dean Cheng, Senior Analyst at the Center for Naval Analysis in Washington, D.C. participated in the Serving the Space Security panel. Dr. Cheng's comments focused on the Chinese space program and Chinese space law. Other participants included Dr. John B. Sheldon, Professor of Strategic Studies at Air University, Maxwell AFB, Dr. Matthew Hall, Professor of Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law, and P.J. Blount, Research Counsel at the National Center for Remote Sensing, Air, and Space Law.
